* The Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) expresses a material's ability to reflect solar energy. It is defined such that a standard black color (solar reflectance of 0.05, emissivity of 0.90) has a value of 0, while a standard white (reflectance of 0.80, emissivity of 0.90) has a value of 100. The higher the SRI value, the better suited the material is for cool surface applications. SRI values can even exceed 100. These values are calculated using Solar Reflectance (SR) and Infrared Emissivity (IE) as defined by the ASTM E1980 standard. "Calculation of Solar Reflectance Index of horizontal and low-sloped opaque surfaces". An equivalent EN standard was published in 2017: "EN 17190: Flexible sheets for waterproofing – Solar Reflectance Index".

McDonald's

Localisation: Île de France

Surface area: 2,700 m²

Executed in June 2023

The project covered 7 restaurants with a tailored approach: applying high-performance white coatings to specific buildings, while deploying colored solutions for 'Playland' areas at other sites.

This strategy has a dual objective: optimizing energy bills and enhancing thermal comfort for customers.

"15% energy savings and a tangible sense of freshness in the 7 newly coated restaurants", says Patrick Mariette, McDonald's franchisee.

Eram

Localisation: Bouches du Rhône

Surface area: 1,780 m²

Executed in July 2023

Among the 330 stores in the French footwear network, this point of sale was selected for an energy optimization pilot project.

"We reduced our energy bills by 29% over the summer period."  Hubert Aubry, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

Solarenn

Localisation: Bretagne

Surface area: 2,500 m²

Executed in May 2024

Thanks to the cool roof coating, the tomato cooperative now protects its produce from thermal fluctuations during packaging and shipping, while simultaneously reducing its energy bills.

"The cooling unit was one of our major consumption centers. We estimate savings of €100,000 over 10 years.", explains Pascal Theraud, Site Manager.

CDC Habitat

Localisation: Hérault

Surface area: 600 m²

Executed in May 2024

The project: This social housing residence in Hérault, consisting of two separate buildings, features a thermo-reflective coating in light tile red, specifically chosen to harmonize with the village's local architecture.

The Methodology: The project was carried out in two phases to ensure a rigorous comparative study: the East building (330 sqm) was treated first, followed by the West section (220 sqm) after a monitoring period ending in August 2024. Temperature sensors were installed both on the roof and indoors to accurately quantify thermal gains.

The Measured Results:

Surface Performance: Up to a 25°C temperature difference between treated and untreated areas on the hottest days.

Indoor Comfort: Temperature reduction of 5°C to 6°C under treated roofs.

Efficiency Threshold: Noticeable improvement starting at 25°C outdoors, with optimal performance above 30°C.

The Impact: This experiment provides concrete evidence of how thermo-reflective solutions improve thermal comfort in social housing while preserving the local architectural identity.
